8 years ago, I wrote an article about the need to rethink clinical trials. Rereading it today, it’s striking—and frustrating—how little has changed.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about the way research is funded and conducted. A small group with narrow objectives continues to fund studies through the same well-resourced academic institutions.

The result? Research focuses heavily on disease management with pharmaceuticals, while studies on preventing disease, optimizing health, or improving fitness and performance (health & wellness) get sidelined. So many of us in the health and wellness world are accused of peddling solutions without evidence. However, the lack of evidence is not proof if inefficacy. It just means that trials haven't been connected yet.

It’s time to spark a broader conversation about expanding who makes the decisions on how research is funded and broadens who conducts it.

If this resonates, I’d be grateful if you could share or engage with this post. Let’s bring attention to this critical issue!

Your article resonates with me. We are also trying to change things by conducting real world studies focusing on prevention and work with nutraceuticals

I'm so glad Bude, I've been rereading articles I wrote 8 years ago. Still feels very relevant.
