Hi all! Great to meet everyone!
Name: Elaine Shi
🎸 Location: Austin, TX
💼 Current Role: Co-Founder & CEO at BodySpec ()
Focus Areas: BodySpec democratizes access to gold standard health data for health-conscious consumers. We're known best for the highest quality, fastest, and most affordable DEXA scans in the county, at roughly $50/scan.

• Connections to investors and brands adjacent to us, as well as local facilities (we know a ton of gyms and clinics that we work with).
• I also bootstrapped for a decade before raising VC funding and can discuss both.
• If you're a founder also navigating parenthood, I have LOTS of perspectives (my first call 21 days after giving birth to my 3rd kid ended up being my Series A lead).
• If you are scaling a service org, we dealt with 5 years of stagnation due to cultural issues before we finally figured it out and broke through. Happy to discuss operator-type stuff like this

There are a number of podcasts I jump around with but I do try and stay as diverse as I can between the biz of fitness and wellness. I also love hearing from thought leaders outside of the wellness space like Steven Bartlett (Diary of a CEO). • Community building as a retention and engagement strategy
How You Can Help WGM:
I bring over 10 years of B2B experience working directly with Directors and Operators across multi-location health clubs, studios, and Associations. That vantage point gives me a clear understanding of how wellness decisions are made at scale and where the gaps often exist between programming, experience, and long-term member retention.
Having worked closely with both operators and consumers, I have a strong grasp on what today’s members are truly seeking to stay engaged long term...not trends, but systems that support consistency, adherence, and results. I’m a big believer in meaningful networking and collaboration and enjoy connecting people, sharing operator-level insight, and helping bridge strategy with real-world execution
How WGM Can Help You:
I’m looking to connect with founders, operators, and investors who understand the value of boutique wellness and the power of a thoughtfully designed bricks-and-mortar experience. I’m especially interested in engaging with investors who are genuinely passionate about wellness, community, and long-term member engagement.
WGM offers an opportunity to exchange ideas with people who appreciate that sustainable growth in wellness and I value being part of a community that supports building businesses with authenticity, integrity, and longevity.

🧠 How You Can Help WGM:
I bring experience from large CPG and MedTech companies, including a management consulting background. I’ve spent much of my career helping teams bring clarity to strategy, goals, governance, reporting, and decision-making - backed by data, and communicating it upward and outward. Always happy to be a thought partner or make introductions where helpful!

🎧 Favorite Follow: Wellness: , Investing:
🤝 Topics You're Interested in Connecting About: Community building for brands, omnichannel expansion, brand-building in the world of AI, all things wellness (read - all things consumer, since wellness now seems to touch every category in some way...) and just to state the obvious - always happy to chat about the investment environment, at least the way we see it from our small perch
How You Can Help WGM: I'm here to pay it forward! As a firm, we spend ~50% of our time on wellness, broadly defined as everything from personal care and supplements to fitness to the consumerization of health and everythign in between, so i'm always happy to compare notes on any area where I feel like we've spent any significant time (i'll be honest if the answer is "i don't know"). We typically invest in brands with $50M+ of revenue, but that also means we see a lot of brands in the $10-50M range and tracking them closely, so if I can help you think through challenges / opportunities on that journey, don't hesitate to reach out! Last but not least, one of the ways we like to pay it forward is to do deep demographic & psychographic customer segmentation of your DTC customer file (free of charge), so if your DTC business is >$10M (meaning you have statistically significant scale) and you want to learn more about who your core customers are and what drives that special emotional connection between a brand and its customers, drop me a line!
