January's Health & Wellness deal activity was robust. Highlights included a $7.5B merger in Exercise technology, a retail Exercise buyout, an IPO filing for a leading Exercise app, a $220M Series D in digital Nutrition care, a majority investment in dairy CPG, and a therapy platform acquisition. In total, January featured 11 buyouts and acquisitions and $1.1B+ of disclosed new capital invested across all Health & Wellness verticals.

After a big year for Exercise transactions in 2025, January continued the trend with a fresh volley of headline deals across the Exercise landscape. We are finally seeing the Exercise TAM opportunity get realized in the U.S. Per the CDC, only ~24% of U.S. adults meet both muscle-strengthening and aerobic Exercise guidelines, meaning there are vast swathes of potential new customers across the U.S. The rapid adoption of GLP-1s (KFF estimates ~12% of U.S. adults) is creating new Exercise consumers. Exercise (and strength training in particular) enhances overall GLP-1 outcomes, resulting in GLP-1 use doubling the percentage of people reporting Exercising weekly. Armed with this pharmaceutical tailwind, the Health & Fitness Association (HFA) claims a 19 quarter streak of visitation growth at U.S. commercial fitness facilities, with foot traffic up 4.2% overall in 2025 (back to the pre-pandemic peak of 2017). This leaves the landscape ripe for investors to make bold bets on the future of Exercise.

As many of you know, I'm very passionate about/involved in the NA Adult Beverage space. I just announced that my firm is launching a new insurance product that will provide liquor liability AND hemp-derived THC consumption liability on the same form designed for bars and restaurants.

This is the first policy of its kind and could really change the game vis a vis what consumption looks like!

The Healthy Growth index of 35 public companies from across Health & Wellness, worth ~$113B, was down 7% in 2025, trailing broader market indices. Gains were driven by a handful of companies in Sleep and Exercise, while Nutrition got routed. B2B membership models did best, D2C digital models struggled, and Same Store Sales trended negatively across the board.

December's Health & Wellness deal activity was steady. Highlights included a $50M Series A in retail mental health, $50M Growth Equity for an infant sleep health platform, a large international thermal wellbeing acquisition, and a $34M Series A for an HSA/FSA payments platform. In total, December featured 9 buyouts & acquisitions and $230M+ of disclosed fundraising across all Health & Wellness verticals.
