As we near the end of 2025, I wanted to step back and synthesize the ~280 deals and ~$13B of capital invested across the Health & Wellness space this year to answer a handful of key questions: Which deals and themes were most important in 2025? What are whitespace opportunities for 2026? What deals were most important for the different types of investors who pay attention to this space?

Fun! I will ask if applicable to kids.

I met last week, and thought his innovation might be really intriguing for the right yoga studios (context below - likely older population). Does anyone come to mind who might be excited for this?
Yocto is a Japan-based wellness tech startup developing “yoctoMat,” a smart yoga mat with pressure sensors that visualize balance and alignment to help reduce injuries and improve student outcomes. We are currently looking for U.S. yoga studios interested in testing the mat and sharing feedback. If any studio is exploring new tools to enhance safety, teaching quality, and student engagement, I’d be grateful for an introduction. More info:

"The company is able to produce each episode for $1 or less, depending on length and complexity, and attach programmatic advertising to it. This generally means that if about 20 people listen to that episode, the company made a profit on that episode, without factoring in overhead. Inception Point AI already has more than 5,000 shows across its Quiet Please Podcast Network and produces more than 3,000 episodes a week."

My goal is to create a clearer picture of consumer health & wellness. A variety of entities aspire to this goal, too, but often do so on their own. I decided to perform a meta-analysis, instead, and aggregated, curated, and synthesized data and analysis from 17 consumer surveys conducted by 13 entities over the past 2 years with a total survey panel of ~130K people. The result is a comprehensive analysis of consumer health & wellness benchmarks, priorities, behaviors, purchases, influences, attitudes, and barriers.
Key Takeaways – Overall Health & Wellness (August 2025):
• Benchmarks for thriving, wellbeing, and health trajectory are relatively stable in the short & medium term.
• 70%+ of people are prioritizing Health & Wellness and taking action.
• Top attributes being prioritized across generations are health and sleep, as heart health and cognitive function are most important.
• Exercise and nutrition are considered the most important actions for being healthy.
• The basics are winning in actual purchasing behavior, as items for General Health and Appearance are purchased ~3x as much as Fitness, Nutrition, Sleep, and Mindfulness.
• Younger consumers overindex on purchases of the most discretionary products and services.
• While doctors (and other certified professionals) are considered most trustworthy, trends are primarily discovered via friends, news media, and social media.
• Purchasing decisions are most influenced by recommendations from trusted sources and direct interactions.
• Most people are already using or considering using A.I. tools, but no single application is clearly dominant.
• Cost is the #1 barrier to making healthier choices, impacting 50%+ of consumers.

May's Health & Wellness deal activity was vigorous. This month featured >$2B of buyouts and acquisitions, primarily in Exercise (EoS Fitness), Enterprise (Workplace Options), and Diagnostics (23andMe, Ezra). There was ~$185M of disclosed fundraising, primarily in Nutrition (David, Farmley), which does not include undisclosed fundraising for Strava and Fullscript, or Omada Health's IPO (likely ~$150M).

When I talk to investors, founders, and CEOs across the space, there can be confusion and disagreement about what exactly Longevity means, as it has so many potential definitions... Five specific customer "jobs" seem paramount in Longevity right now.
Shout-out to @Hillary Lin, MD for her great work and insight in this space 🙌

It has been a volatile month for equities, driven by tariff news and the related economic ripple effects, so I wanted to create and share an updated snapshot of public company valuations from across Health & Wellness. Overall, the sector appears to be performing in line with the broader market, valuation multiples are stable, there is meaningful performance variance across verticals and segments (as expected), and most companies are profitable.
